. PSHEeducation | The status of PSHE education 2012 to present

2012: Wash-up negotiations in April 2010 between the former government and former opposition parties on the Children, Schools and Families Bill resulted in the removal of the clauses to introduce PSHE education as a statutory subject in the national curriculum at primary and secondary level. These negotiations also removed the clause that would have made statutory the new primary curriculum. The Coalition Government's Department for Education launched an internal review in 2011 to determine how to support schools to improve the quality of teaching PSHE education, including giving teachers the flexibility to use their judgement about how best to deliver PSHE education.
